We Are Your Neighbors, a Village exhibit honoring eight older neighbors who make Cleveland and Woodley Park vibrant, unique communities. In celebration of Older Americans Month, discover the extraordinary stories of these everyday residents and why they call our neighborhoods home.

Jinny
"Kennedy was elected. So we went to Washington."
Jinny came to Washington with the Kennedy administration and has been a Cleveland Park resident since 1960. Her professional journey included work at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, where she focused on disability rights—a passion sparked when her son became deaf. Committed to fostering inclusion and independence, Jinny helped found Cleveland & Woodley Park Village so that she and her neighbors could continue aging in a community they love. Her decades of advocacy and leadership reflect a deep dedication to both science and the power of community.

About "We Are Your Neighbors"
Too often, older adults are overlooked in our youth-focused world. We Are Your Neighbors, presented by Cleveland & Woodley Park Village, brings their stories to the forefront through powerful portraits, personal narratives, and audio recordings.

This project features eight longtime neighborhood residents, highlighting their wisdom, resilience, and rich life experiences.
In honor of Older Americans Month this May—and its 2025 theme, “Flip the Script on Aging”—we aim to challenge stereotypes and celebrate aging. By sharing these voices, we hope to build a more inclusive community where older adults are truly seen, heard, and valued.
