Our Vision
A supportive neighborhood where older residents thrive and are a vital thread in the fabric of our community.
The Village Story
Cleveland & Woodley Park Village is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization that serves residents in Washington D.C.’s Cleveland Park and Woodley Park neighborhoods. We are inspired by the national Village movement to assist seniors as they age in their own homes. Village members experience reduced isolation, increased independence, and enhanced purpose of life.

Our Village began as an idea discussed at neighbors’ kitchen tables in 2013 and has become a vibrant community of more than 125 members and 150 volunteers in our two neighborhoods. We support our senior neighbors by providing assistance that enables continued independent living and creates opportunities to connect, make new friends of all ages, take part in social events, enjoy the city’s community and cultural experiences.
And for those who need it, our volunteers provide around-the-house support so seniors can live independently and confidently in their own homes. Every year, our volunteers provide more than 1,500 service visits at members’ requests — a ride to the barber shop; help getting winter clothes down from high shelves; setting up a new phone or computer; a ride to the polls; getting to shops or doctor appointments, or sometimes just a visit in the afternoon to play a game of cards.

Our mission is to create opportunities for older adults to be actively engaged, support those who need it with volunteer assistance to help them live independently, and work to create a welcoming community for people of all ages.
