Wednesday’s Lunch Bunch, hosted by Sandy and Marjorie, was more than just a fun picnic by the pool; somehow it felt different, almost like a return to normalcy.
Who knew that sitting around a table, enjoying a lovely meal, and conversing with someone could also feed the soul? I guess before the pandemic, I grew so accustomed to that very ritual of eating with family and friends that it wasn’t until its absence that I could truly appreciate its importance.
Updated Member Directory Coming Soon
I’m happy to report that we’ve had several new members join us recently. With the new names we will soon be updating the Village membership directory to make it easier for members and volunteers to connect. You may have received an email survey asking for your most up-to-date contact information. If you didn't don't worry, a volunteer will be making some follow up calls for anyone we're missing. And of course no information will shared without your approval!
Village Members to Village Volunteers
The Village is all about collaboration and we don't place any barriers between membership and volunteers. Many of our members participate as Village Volunteers and we invite you to learn more about these opportunities if you're inclined. Here are a few of our needs presently:
Write weekly or periodic articles for our newsletter
Join our “Welcome Wagon” group to help acclimate new members and answer questions from prospective members
Serve on the Volunteer Committee and help organize volunteer appreciation events
Do administrative work, either from home or in the Village office at the Broadmoor
Help support members who have just returned home from a hospital stay or rehab by making a meal or delivering a prescription.
I am a firm believer that there’s a job for everyone! If you have a special skill or interest, and you don’t see that in any of the above volunteer needs, let’s talk and figure out how you can support our community with your special talent. As we emerge from the pandemic, we need more help than ever and there’s a role for everyone that wants to join in the fun.
