Weekly Village News for Sept. 11, 2026

From Frank...Tonight begins Rosh Hashanah for those of the Jewish Faith. For those that celebrate this Jewish New Year, Shanah Tova.

Please take a moment to read through the newsletter and pay particular attention to the various upcoming events. We ask that you please register for those programs of interest. You will know that you've successfully registered if you receive an email confirmation. If you think you've registered, but didn't get an email confirmation then something went wrong and you've not successfully registered. If you are unsure, please call the Village office at 202-615-5853 and we can assist you. I want to stress the importance of registering and also letting us know by email or a phone call if your plans change.

I hope you all have a great week. I'll be out of town that latter part of next week attending a Village conference in California, hopefully learning new and interesting things from other Villages that I can use to strengthen our own Village. P.S. I want to take a moment to address the anniversary of 9/11 and the tragic events of that day 25 years ago. The loss, then and now, is enormous. Like many, I remember exactly where I was when the horrific events unfolded, and the disbelief I felt while watching the news of what occurred. In the days that followed, I was profoundly moved when I saw people acting selflessly and supporting others. It was my observation that while there's ill will by some, there's goodness and generosity by many, and strength can be found in community.
