From Frank...

In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Month, I want to take the time to recognize some of the amazing work being done by Village volunteers. Our Village would not be able to operate without our dedicated team of volunteers and the variety of needs they fulfill for our community.
This week, I want to bring special attention to a team of grocery shoppers who collaborate to ensure that each week one of them is available to shop for and deliver groceries for one of our members who is unable to make it to the store. These volunteers are Emily Benner, Michelle Serafyn, John Wiecking, Mark Harvey, Judy Riggs, Terry McDonald, Sarah Titus, Alison Garrett, and Mackenzie Lemoine. Grocery delivery services such as Instacart come along with much higher prices for grocery items, delivery fees, and tips. Beyond that, they can also be difficult to use for members who aren’t familiar with using such technology. Having a volunteer shopper provides a much more personal, friendly, and reliable experience, and ensures an extra level of care for those who would prefer to pick out their own produce but are unable to do so.
Thanks to this wonderful group of volunteer shoppers, the Village can provide the sense of security that comes with knowing well in advance that grocery help is on the way, and the sense of community that comes with knowing one’s neighbors are there and happy to help when needed.
