Meet Tess Cannon | Volunteer Spotlight

Originally from Juneau, Alaska, Tess moved to DC in 2014 from Seattle. She lived in Mt. Pleasant for 5 years before buying a co-op unit on Macomb Street with her partner in December 2019. They share their home with two cats, Jobi and Roo. Tess currently works on high school study abroad programs and previously was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Germany. She loves exploring Rock Creek Park, cooking new meals, and spending time with friends and community members.

Tess joined the Village in the midst of the pandemic and has done many contact-less grocery deliveries, run countless errands, and cooks amazing meals for our meal program every other week. Her chicken enchiladas brought rave reviews. Recently, she stepped forward to keep track of volunteer drivers’ license and insurance information – a tedious but very important task for our Village.

She looks forward to a time when she can meet in person with the many members with whom she’s only spoken to on the phone. Many thanks, Tess, for all that you do for our Village!
