Capitol Hill Village's speaker series Village Voices will return with an informative presentation on Southern Society after the Civil War: Emancipation and Its Legacy given by University of Maryland Professor Leslie Rowland. Rowland is a historian of the U.S. South and the Civil War and Reconstruction as well as director of the Freedmen and Southern Society Project. Under her direction, the Project is creating a multi-volume documentary history of Black life from the beginning of the Civil War to the advent of Radical Reconstruction in the South.
Village Voices presentations are free and open to the public.
