From Frank ... | July 9

Earlier this week we sent out the invitation to our annual fundraiser, the Summer Spritz! Tickets are just $25 per household and it promises to be an evening of fun, laughter, and touching moments on Thursday, July 29th at 7pm. The preshow begins at 6:30. Liam Mayclem will join me in hosting this year and we have three live auction items, including a piece of fine contemporary furniture by my friend, designer, and craftsman, Eben Blaney. We will be joined by author, humorist, and broadcaster Mo Rocca who will regale us with stories of visiting his Italian grandmother at her apartment at The Chancery as well as having his mother as his current upstairs neighbor.

How the Summer Spritz Supports Our Mission

Our gala provides nearly 40% of our annual operating budget. Your support allows us to create opportunities for older adults in our neighborhood to be actively engaged, but also provide volunteer assistance to those who need it to remain living independently. During the pandemic, the Village supported older neighbors with contact-less food and prescription deliveries, rides to essential medical appointments, and a variety of virtual programming designed to reduce social isolation. More recently, we’ve added in-person services, such as technology support, handy-person services, and social visits. These activities and services are invaluable to our members, but also help give peace of mind to their loved ones who aren’t local or otherwise able to assist them directly.

One major advantage to holding a virtual event is that friends, family, and supporters don’t need to be in Washington, DC to attend. So please share the email invitation with others no matter where they are located!

Don't Forget the Jazz Concert: Saturday July 10

Finally, it’s not too late to join us tomorrow, July 10th at 5pm for an evening of Jazz with Bobby McCoy outside on the lawn of the Maret school. This is a community event and open to all. Click here to register.
