While the thermometer may tempt you to hunker down under a blanket, I’d like to make my pitch for planning at least one cold weather excursion: The Annual Village Holiday Party is back. And it’s going to be better than ever.
In two weeks – Thursday December 15th at 2pm – we invite you to join the Village community as we gather again for our annual Village Holiday Party at All Souls Episcopal Church in Woodley Park. In addition to the festive environment and lively conversation, you’ll not want to miss the cookie swap, the white elephant gift exchange, some good storytelling, and other games.
We will of course be taking several precautions due to COVID. Masks and the latest vaccine will be required (except in the desert area). Members Plus can request rides by calling the office at 202-615-5853 or sending an email to info@CWPV.org, but the event is open to ALL members and volunteers! Click here to RSVP.
COVID Vaccine Update
Here is a fact that concerns me. Among DC residents aged 65 and older, nearly 95,000 received the first dose COVID vaccine. But right now only 25% are up-to-date with their COVID vaccinations.
I hope that includes you, but if you are one of the ¾ who have fallen behind on your vaccinations please get boosted. You can get a booster through neighborhood pharmacies, DC COVID Centers, or by simply calling 1-855-363-0333 to invite DC Health to come to you.
For more information from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on boosters, please click here. Finally, if you’ve been exposed to someone with COVID, here’s CDC’s guidance on what to do.
Help us Plan our 2023 Calendar of Events
In 2023 we’re hoping to add new programs to our schedule and would really appreciate hearing from you about what would be appealing. With nearly 200 members we know there is a variety of interests, and we want to create a diverse set of programs so that there’s something for everyone. Send your ideas to Frank@CWPV.org and help make our community even more active and engaging, in the cold weather and all year long!
Giving Tuesday Match a Success
Finally, I want to thank all our generous donors who helped us meet our Giving Tuesday donor match program. That's right, we hit the goal and earned the $5,000 match. We couldn't have done it without all who stepped up and answered the call. This was so important and provides some great momentum as we fully launch our End of Year fundraising appeal - which is now underway.
