This weekend I hope you will join me at the Uptown Shuffle happening Sunday from 12-4 in parking lot of Sam’s Park and Shop, on the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Ordway Street.
The Uptown Shuffle is a chance to showcase neighborhood businesses and meet new and old neighbors. There will be musical performances, dancing, fun, and food, including performances by School of Rock, Foundation Fitness, and GottaSwing.
And you will find Village volunteers and staff on site to provide information about volunteering and Village membership. We will also be handing out information specifically for older adults, made available by third-party providers, on topics, such as meals/nutrition, transportation, home modifications, vision and hearing, money managers, home health care and care management resources. And we'll even have some fun swag to give away.
I’m excited to be sharing this information that many members have asked us for. And while we aren’t endorsing or recommending these services, we want our members to have the information that they need to make their informed decisions. So, if you need a place to start finding information for yourself, a friend, or loved one, please stop by our booth!
Finally, a reminder that a perk of membership is a free subscription to the Washington Consumer’s Checkbook, provided that you write one review of any vendor annually. If you’re interested, please email us and we’ll get you your complimentary log in code.
