Weekly Village News of May 16, 2025

From Frank...

Older Americans Month is in full swing at the Village. Our exhibit, We Are Your Neighbors, is up at the library and Maret! If you haven't had a chance to see it yet, I highly encourage you to do so sometime this month. The exhibit features eight of our members (two of whom are Village founders) and showcases their rich lives, how they overcame challenges, and current joys. To me, they are each inspirational, not only for their bravery in sharing their life stories, but also for the absolute brilliance of their lives. They share their highs and lows, and I feel so privileged to know each of them. I've always thought that the best part of my job is meeting so many of my neighbors who perhaps otherwise I wouldn't have met. Through this exhibit, other community members get the privilege of "meeting" these remarkable eight individuals.

This coming week, we also have three programs at the library. I urge you to register and attend, if possible. It's a great way to get more information, interact with others, and discuss various aspects of our community!

Monday, May 19, 6:30 pm – lower level

Tuesday, May 20th, 7 pm – first floor

Wednesday, May 21, 5 pm – lower level

Finally, a bit of fun personal news. Ellie, pictured above, found her new home with us! It's been more than two years since my dog, Rosie, passed away. Lucy, my black lab, has been without a "sister" and has enjoyed being the only dog in the house, but luckily embraced Ellie wholeheartedly.

Ellie had to be re-homed when her family grew with more children and less time for her, but through friends, she found her way to us. I've put the bunnies in the backyard on alert that there's a new guard in town so hopefully this year I'll be able to harvest some of the vegetables from the garden.

I'm over the moon with my new love so if you see me on the street with my spotted hound, please stop and say hello and welcome Ellie to the neighborhood!
