From Frank...

Fall has arrived here in DC. I hope that those of you that enjoy cooler temperatures are enjoying this.  (As you know, I love the heat and so all I can say is that this weather is better than snow!) I am trying to get back into the swing of things and so I'm mostly back to work, although I will be out the latter part of next week again. Thanks again for your patience and all your support during this time of grief after losing my mom.

I do want to remind you of a few important things:

  • If you have not yet returned your demographic information form and consent to share information with our funder, the DC Department of Aging & Community Living (DACL) please do so within the next few days. If you've misplaced this letter and the self-addressed stamped envelope in which to return the form, you can click here to download and print the form, or email the office at info@CWPV.org or call 202-615-5853 and we'll assist you to complete this important task.

  • Tonight, is our Village Variety Show at Fat Pete's BBQ.  If you've been dithering about this, but now have decided that you'd like to join, well, you're in luck because we have a few seats left. The doors open at 6 and the show starts at 7, so hurry and buy your tickets right now!

  • Wednesday, October 22nd at noon, we will hold our Lunch & Learn about the iconic breakfast on the National Mall, which was attended by one of our members, Betsy Crone.

** Next Saturday, October 25th at 2pm, we will having our final concert of the year at McLean Gardens. (Note that the time on the printed calendar was incorrectly listed at 3pm.) Seneca Creek will be performing again this year and delighting us with some Americana and bluegrass classics. Additionally, the McLean Gardens community always has great activities for the kids, such as pumpkin carving, so it's a delightful intergenerational community event. When registering, please be sure to indicate if you need a chair. We transport these so it's important that we have an accurate count and I want everyone that needs a chair to have one!

  • The next Tuesday Talk will be on October 28th at 6:45 and will feature Seth Waxman, former Solicitor General of the United States. You don't want to miss this!

  • On Sunday, November 2nd at 1:30 in partnership with the Cleveland Park Library, we will be showing highlights from the film, Caregiving, as part of National Family Caregiving Month. A panel discussion will follow and will include important information about resources available to care partners in our area.

Please be sure to check out our full online calendar of events. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a vaccine clinic this year, so you won't find that listed. We hope to again offer this in future years. Finally, I really urge everyone to register for events so that we can plan appropriately, and if you do so and later find out that you cannot attend (even at the last minute) please call or text the office phone at 202-615-5853.

Happy Fall everyone and again, many thanks for your expressions of support. I greatly appreciate it. Read all the Village news, events, and programs here.
