I had a great week away last week although now it seems like a distant memory. Being on Cape Cod (pictured above) is always restorative for me. The sights of the tide coming in and out along with the salty fragrance of the ocean somehow allow me to quiet my mind and feel the emotions associated with loss as they wash over me, just as the water washes over the sand and leaves it different, but intact. I so appreciate the ability to take the time away, to heal and ultimately re-energize my passions, including that for the Village, our important mission, and of course, our members and volunteers.
This coming week we have many opportunities to engage including our Men’s Lunch on Monday, Cards & Games Group on Wednesday, Dial-In-Social on Thursday, and of course, our online stretching class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The Tuesday Talk and trip to the Baltimore Museum of Art are both at capacity at this time. I know that there are some folks that are not online or find Zoom annoying or difficult, so I am particularly encouraging those folks and anyone else interested to join our Dial-In Social to discuss our Thanksgiving memories. You simply dial 202-602-1294 on Thursday, November 20th at 3pm and you’re in the conference call with others. We just chat for an hour and connect around our memories of the holiday. I hope you’ll consider joining me. Perhaps I’ll share how I unfortunately learned about the hazards of stuffing a turkey!
Again, this year we will be delivering a free, homemade Thanksgiving meal to any Village member that would like one on Thanksgiving morning. If you’d like a meal or are a volunteer willing to help cook and/or deliver the meals, please send an email to info@CWPV.org or call the office at 202-615-5853.
Finally, in September we mailed a demographic questionnaire and consent form to share information with one of our funders, the DC Department of Aging & Community Living. You can access the forms here. If you have not returned these forms, please do so as soon as possible (as in today, this weekend, or early next week!) If you need assistance of any kind to compete this task, please call the office at 202-615-5853.

P.S. We have a new phone system at the Village office. The main number remains unchanged at 202-615-5853. However, I now have a separate line. If you need to reach me during regular business hours, you may now call me directly on 202-740-5270. If I am unavailable, there is a voicemail where you can leave me a confidential message.
