From Frank ... | July 23

Occasionally it’s hard to know what to write here. We have our Summer Spritz within the week on Thursday, July 29th at 7pm and so I hope that everyone will join us for this important annual fundraiser.

At the moment, however, I’m distracted because my mom (a Village member) fell on Sunday and I’ve been juggling being here for her as well as all of you. She’s recovering and I’m hopeful that she’ll get back on her feet in a bit. Appreciate all the support that I know I have from all of you.

This experience where life as I knew it changed in an instant has me thinking about how fragile life is and how important it is to be there for one another. Life keeps showing me how important it is for us to support and be there for one another. That is precisely what the Village is all about: creating ways to be together and having volunteers (many of whom are also members) assist those that need a little helping hand. It’s such a beautiful thing.

So, please join us for the Summer Spritz. Tickets can be purchased or donations made at www.CWPV.org/spritz and we open the silent auction on Monday. Stay tuned for details by email on how to access the auction. We have tons of great auction items including tickets to dinner and the Temptations’ show at the Kennedy Center, a weekend getaway to New York City, gift certificates to local restaurants, original artwork, jewelry, and so much more. I would really appreciate your sending an email to family, friends, and neighbors to ask them to support us.

Perhaps it’s worth reiterating why supporting the Summer Spritz is so important. It provides us with about 40% of our operating funds. Those funds allow us to provide subsidized memberships for those with limited incomes, provide short-term case management services, programming to combat social isolation, and most importantly, facilitate the matching of volunteers with members’ needs. We can’t do this work without your help!
