Recipe of the Month: Nancy's Chewy Ginger Snaps


The Village's first ever cookie swap was a rousing success, with 11 members and volunteers baking cookies for one another. Thank you to all who participated with special thanks to Village Board Co-Chair Sandy Rubin for organizing this fun program.

Nancy’s Chewy Ginger Snaps Ingredients

1 cup sugar 1 cup butter ¾ cup molasses 1 egg 1 ½ tsp vinegar 3 cups flour 1 ½ tsp baking soda 2 tsp ginger 1/8 tsp pepper


Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Blend in molasses. Beat in egg and vinegar.

Sift flour, baking soda and pepper together and blend. Drop by teaspoons onto cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or brush with a powdered sugar and water glaze while still warm.
