Local Spotlight: Twin Springs Fruit Farm

How can you enjoy the freshest food that summer has to offer and support local farmers? Check out family-owned Twin Springs Fruit Farm every Saturday morning right in Woodley Park, at the Maret School parking lot from 9am-1pm.

Located in Orrtanna, PA near Gettysburg, Twin Springs prides itself on its sustainability, from it solar-powered greenhouses and biomass heat plant to the work they have done to protect water resources, prevent erosion, and build up the farm’s soil.

Right now, they’ve got juicy peaches, cherries, berries, and lots of farm-fresh veggies, herbs, and eggs! And sometimes, they surprise you: this spring, I really enjoyed trying their “kalettes” – a yummy cross between kale and brussels sprouts. Unlike many other farmer’s markets, this one operates year-round. You can also find them at the Dupont Circle Farmers Market on Sundays, and you can pre-order on their website for faster pickup at either market.
