In other less urgent news, given our weather this week, I guess Punxsutawney Phil predicted correctly this year!

Based on how much I detest the snow and lack of sunlight even more, you’d never guess that I loved living in Nova Scotia for four years. For me, the pandemic and the winter are both something to just get through.

With that in mind, I want to remind you of some interesting programs in the hopes that you’ll find something of interest, such as the conference on Harnessing the Power of Grief on Thursday. We've all been affected by this pandemic. Some have lost spouses, parents, siblings, and friends. We need to be sure to take care of ourselves and so I encourage everyone to find something that speaks to them and give it a try. See our complete programs listing below, but here are just a few highlights to tempt you:

Monday- Yoga with Erin Heramb at 10am

Tuesday – Tuesday Talk: Enraptured by Raptors: The Story Cleveland Park Hawks at 7pm

Wednesday – Wellness Wednesday: Eating for Heart Health at 1pm

Thursday –Harnessing the Power of Grief at 1pm

Friday – Morning Stretch with Beth Kaplan at 10am

Sometimes, some of us need a little extra help to get through the tough stretches, so please be sure to see the article on our Village Case Manager, Barbara Scott, to learn how she might be a resource to you as a Village member.

This week we emailed acknowledgement letters for all donations received in 2020 detailing charitable contributions that are tax deductible. Because of a change in tax law included in COVID relief legislation, you may be able to deduct your 2020 donation even if you don't normally itemize your tax deductions. This legislation allows taxpayers who take the standard deduction to take an additional deduction of $300 for qualified charitable contributions. Please consult your tax advisor for details, but let us know via email if you did not receive your letter and be sure to check your spam folder as well.

Finally, while speaking of donations, let me express my extreme gratitude for your ongoing generosity. Our Year End Appeal was very successful as 110 individuals donated $25,000! This is so helpful and allows us to offer the vast array of programs and deliver the services needed. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
