Join a tour of our neighborhood's historic call boxes - those ubiquitous neighborhood fixtures date back to the late 19th Century and were the "911" of the day - used to summon police and fire assistance. Each neighborhood picks a theme and color for its boxes and the art on display ranges in style from representational to abstract. The boxes showcase each neighborhood's unique identity.
Last month, Judy Waxman led us as we toured the call boxes in Woodley Park. In February, we will explore the call boxes in Cleveland Park, led by Village member Judy Hubbard. Weather permitting. Masks are required. Meeting place to be announced.
These walks are a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and learn a little history!
